Below is the letter that went home with your student last Thursday, 10 September 2009:

Greetings, Parents and Guardians!

My name is Jamie Lee, and I am your son/daughter’s English teacher.  Every year, C.R.H.S. hosts an Open House so that families can meet the principals, counselors, and teachers.

Believe me, I know that teenagers often try to keep their parents/guardians “out of the loop,” but please accept my invitation to come to our Open House to meet me, learn about our curriculum this year, and gain an understanding of my expectations for your teenager in our class.

I understand that many of you have evening commitments and work, but if you are available, I would love to meet you.

Date: Monday, September 14, 2009

Time: 7:00 P.M.

Open House Overview:

  • Brief introduction by administration in the auditorium (by main office)
  • You will follow your student’s daily schedule and have a short amount of time to meet each teacher
  • Refreshments and mingling in the cafeteria

If you cannot attend, please feel free to email me or call me via the information provided below.  Finally, if you have Internet access, please check out our class website!  The PowerPoint that I will share at Open House can be accessed here by clicking on this link.

Most sincerely,

Jamie M. Lee

GENERAL  WELCOME:

Hello, and welcome to our website! This site will provide invaluable resources and links to assist us throughout the school year. All of this information is also available in class, so students who do not have access to the Internet outside of school will not be penalized.

What can you find here? You can review a copy of our course syllabus and tentative calendar, check assignments and class information, and correspond with me outside of normal school hours. To find out what is going on in class and to access classroom materials (handouts, PowerPoints, and more), click on the appropriate month on the right-hand side of this page–e.g., 1: August 2008.

If you do not have Microsoft Office, please click on the Access Help Page for assistance.

The Links Page on the right of this page will guide you to some useful resources, including our school home page, some grammar and literature resources, and an online dictionary. (This dictionary is my favorite because it enables you to listen to audio pronunciations of words.)

.

CONTACTING  ME:

Students: If you have a question and did not have an opportunity to talk to me in school, then it is your responsibility to leave comments on this site or to email me: Jamie.Lee@cr.k12.de.us.  Don’t worry–any comments you post will not be visible to anyone but me until I hit “approve.”

Parents: If you would like to discuss your child’s progress with me, please email me at Jamie.Lee@cr.k12.de.us or call the school to leave a message for me at (302) 697-2161, ext. 2203.

Hey Kiddos,

We all love the beach, but these links might help to keep you and your family safe from the very thing you used to protect yourselves in the first place.

Read and beware!

Hey Kiddos–

I know that you are hearing words of caution left and right from adults now that you have and are getting your licenses, but I need to add my own words, too.  My mom–yes, teachers have moms, too–just forwarded me an email.  It has information and a link to a short news video entitled “Are Your Tires Safe?”  Basically, ABC went undercover and found numerous tire dealers selling tires that they claimed were new but were actually old.  Tires that are older than six (6) years old are a major hazard and can literally disintegrate, not just “blow out.”  If you want to watch the video and learn how to recognize whether these tires are the real deal or not on your own, follow this link: http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4826897

Sometimes, I come across a website and just think “Wow. You folks would love that.” Unfortunately, there’s not always time to show you all of the neat things that I would love to. As such, I will relate them here and hope that you explore on your own!
